I help the Tropics team analyze data from NASA satellite imagery and from the Tanguro field station in the Amazon. I am excited to be using research and data to support the Tropics team’s work on meaningful policy.

I have had a unique career path. I spent ten years in the hospitality industry, most recently as a general manager for a Boston-based catering company. In that role, I was responsible for handling the human resources functions for the company, as well as overseeing tax compliance and business development. After I was laid off during the pandemic, I decided to reinvent myself. I enrolled in the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where I earned my degree in economics. I sought to pursue a career in quantitative economics, and considered myself “Ph.D. curious.” However, I ended up earning my master’s degree in data analytics and policy from Johns Hopkins University.

As a graduate student, I explored how data impacts a wide range of public policy issues and became proficient at statistical modeling programs, including R and Python. I believe data is a very powerful and convincing tool, and I hope to use my skills to work at the intersection of policy and research in order to become an advocate for data-driven policy changes.

Outside of work, I am an avid learner and lover of classical music and the opera. I also enjoy playing tennis and going to the beach. I am constantly chasing an endless summer, as I split my time between Falmouth, MA, and Fort Lauderdale, FL.
