Senior Vice President of Communications, U.S. Dairy Export Council

Jerry Brown is Senior Vice President of Communications for the U.S. Dairy Export Council. He has more than 20 years of public affairs, public relations, and international experience in the corporate, U.S. government, and association sectors. Areas of expertise include strategic communications, issues management, crisis communications, and environmental communications linked to sustainable development, climate change, and broader environmental issues. He has a deep commitment to strengthening climate action in the U.S. and worldwide.

Previously, Brown was Senior Communications Fellow at Climate Advisers Trust. In this role, he directed the communications efforts for projects focusing on climate response risks, deforestation finance, land use economics and climate policy, and litigation on forest crimes. He also worked as a consultant for the American Institute of Architects, and served as Director of Strategic Communications for The Nature Conservancy. In this senior leadership role, he provided marketing and communications counsel for global conservation and external affairs programs.

Brown’s U.S. government experience encompasses stints as Deputy Director of the Office of External Affairs at USAID and Director of Public Affairs at the Federal Transit Administration, U.S. Department of Transportation. He also served as Director of Communications and Public Affairs for Winrock International, Winthrop Rockefeller’s philanthropic organization, where he managed the organization’s national and international communications programs, press relations, and served as chief spokesperson.
