Private Investor, Co-Founder of MidMark Capital
Joseph (Joe) Robinson is an investor in a handful of privately held companies and, in addition, serves on several non-profit and for profit boards.
He began his career working for IBEC (International Basic Economic Corporation) in their Argentina subsidiary in operations and general management. He went to Brazil as COO and CEO working for subsidiaries of SHV Holdings N.V. and Vendex International B.V. Most of his operational management experience was in Latin America where he worked successfully under extreme conditions of inflation, economic instability and political turmoil.
After working seventeen years overseas for corporations, Robinson in 1989 co-founded MidMark Capital, an investment firm focused on privately held middle market companies, and as a Managing Director was active on the boards of many of MidMark’s portfolio companies.
Robinson served as Treasurer and Finance Committee chair at Woodwell Climate (then Woods Hole Research Center) from 1996 until 2017 and as a Director from 1995 to 2020. Since 2000, Robinson has been Trustee and Treasurer of the Ruth Mott Foundation in Flint, Michigan. He has also served over many years as Trustee and Treasurer of The Visual Arts Center of New Jersey, Summit, NJ.
Robinson graduated as a history major from Cornell University (B.A., 1964).
